About this policy
WILLOW MORRISON AUTHOR operates www.willowmorrisonauthor.com.
This policy explains how personal information is collected and used when you visit the website, contact me or subscribe to my newsletter.
For questions about this policy or your personal information, email info@willowmorrisonauthor.com.
Responsibility for your information
I operate this website under the author trading name WILLOW MORRISON AUTHOR and determine how personal information collected through it is used.
For privacy enquiries or requests concerning your information, contact info@willowmorrisonauthor.com.
Processing outside the UK
Squarespace processes some personal information outside the UK, including in the United States. Squarespace describes its transfer safeguards, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and contractual safeguards, in its Privacy Policy.
You can contact me for further information about the safeguards relevant to your information.
Information collected
When you subscribe to my newsletter, I collect your email address and any name you choose to provide.
When you contact me through Squarespace or directly by email, I collect your email address and the information you include in your message.
Squarespace also processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device information, to provide and operate the website.
How your information is used
I use your personal information to:
Send newsletters about my writing, books, author news and related updates when you subscribe.
Respond to your messages and enquiries.
Operate and protect the website.
Contacting me does not automatically subscribe you to my newsletter. Providing your information is voluntary, but I need your email address to send you newsletters or reply to your enquiry.
Newsletter subscriptions
My newsletter sign-up form is connected to MailerLite through Squarespace. When you subscribe, your details are automatically passed to MailerLite, which stores and processes them on my behalf to manage subscriptions and send newsletters about my writing, books and author news.
I send these newsletters with your consent. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or emailing info@willowmorrisonauthor.com.
Email open tracking is disabled. MailerLite still records clicks on links in newsletters to help me understand which content interests subscribers.
Legal bases
I rely on your consent to send newsletters. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdraw consent.
I rely on legitimate interests to respond to enquiries and operate a secure website. These interests are communicating with readers and maintaining the website.
Where necessary, I may also process information to comply with a legal obligation. Where optional cookies require consent, I rely on your consent to use them and process the associated personal information. You can withdraw that consent through the Cookie Preferences section.
Service providers
I use Squarespace to host the website and provide contact forms, and MailerLite to manage newsletter subscriptions and provide forms.
These providers process information needed to deliver their services. Further information is available in their privacy policies:
Cookies and your preferences
This website uses cookies through Squarespace to support website functions and, where enabled and accepted, collect information about website use.
The cookie banner lets you accept or decline optional cookies, or manage your preferences. You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences section on the website.
Further information about cookies provided by Squarespace is available in its Cookie Policy.
How long information is kept
Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, a limited record may be retained to ensure your preference is respected.
Messages and enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and deal with any related follow-up. Information may be kept longer where necessary to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute.
Your rights
Under applicable data protection law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information. You may also have rights to restrict processing or receive a portable copy of your information.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and to the use of your information for direct marketing.
To exercise your rights, email info@willowmorrisonauthor.com.
You can also raise a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the website develops. It will be reviewed before direct sales of books or merchandise begin, to explain any additional information collected for orders and payments.
The latest version will appear on this page with an updated date.
